I've heard that too, but I think it means "poor location" in a DYNAMIC sense,
meaning when its hopping its located poorly...
I think the reason its offset is to make the axles the same length.? Don't
see how it would matter if its offset or in-line. You are right that
they should be in parallel planes, and I never thought about it but, having
some angle to keep the bearings moving might be a good idea!
When you decide what you want, you might want to do what the guy that built
my Alger did: send the Alpine rear end to Currie and have them make the
new Ford one exactly the same... then you just bolt it in!
