When I bought my Series II Alpine it was only 3 years old and had the original
winshield (I knew the original owner). The windshield had started to
delaminate at that time ... the delamination showed as a series of `veins'
radiating out from a single spot on the driver's side edge. They stretched
out about 2-3 inches from the edge. Each `vein' was about 1/16" wide. If I'm
not mistaken, the factory windshield was labelled `Lamiglass' (nothing to do
with the fiberglass fly rod blanks). Over the years, it never has gone white
or shown any signs of absorbing moisture in spite of the fact that it lives on
the Canadian `wet coast'. I'm not sure if this helps or just makes things
more confusing.
