Some Alpine Purchasing Advice Followup

I'd like to thank the many people who responded regarding the Series II
Alpine my son was considering buying. The Alpine list has grown
considerably from the 3 or 4 people it started with.

As some of you already know my son decided to pass on this car for
various reasons, not the least of which being that he has got the hots
for a TR8 he test drove afterwards. Still, if the TR8 deal falls
through, he was impressed enough the Alpine to be on watch for another.
He felt very much at home in the car.

Personally I've had a soft spot for Alpines since I went with fiend to
pick up his brand new Series II from Lew Spencer's Sunbeam Alpine/Morgan
Dealership in West LA in 1963. Of course I thought the +4 Moggie
Spencer raced at the time was pretty cool too. My job that day was to
drive my friend's TD back to the San Fernando Valley where we both
lived at the time.

I actually got to drive that Alpine quite a bit. We used to swap diving
duty and cars on trips to watch races at Riverside Laguna Seca, Santa
Barbara, and the like. The Alpine was a LOT more comfortable on the
longer trips than my big Healey was.
