I really liked the 1600 in my Alpine WRT performance per cc and overall driving
characteristics. It was a worthy, fun, and decent sounding little mill. I
prefer something I can beat and neglect with little or no worry, I wanted
convienint and immediate parts availability, and I can't leave well enough
alone.
I brought the old Alpine driveshaft in to have one made for the swap today.
The driveline shop provided the slip yoke, the measurement they asked for was
from the centerline of the U-Joint journals on the slip yoke to the pinion
flange on the rear end. This is with the slip yoke out from bottoming 1 inch.
My length was 29 an 1/2 inches. The estimated a cost of about $100 which
included the slip yoke and fromt U-Joints.
The motor will come out this weekend for some near final preparations. The
first thing on the agenda is to weld up the floor pan. Things are coming along
and I am still on schedual to be on the road by the end of the year.
