Belgian Auto-Cross

I wanted to share my recent experience in Spa, Belgium where I was
staying for business reasons. One late evening after tavern-hopping
I was stumbling back to my hotel (midnight mind ya) and what racket
was going on in the streets? The annual 'Coupe De Source' was going
on. The event is held annually in Spa (Famous natural spring source
popular all over Europe) and caters to 'Historic' European vehicles.
Quite a feast, there were Alfas, Fiats and Fords I'd never seen or
heard of before - some with engines as small as 750CC (.75L).
Nonetheless, to my point - - there were two Alpines, appearing to both
be '67, however aside from being in great shape, one was right-hand
drive. I could not inquire much since I don't speak French and little
English is found in Spa.

I must say I enjoyed the show very much, over 50 neato cars, many
'manned' by husband-wife/driver-navigator teams. (And I can't even
get my wife to ride in my stock '67 Alpine).

This rally takes place on extremely dark, wooded, curvy, hilly roads
of the Baraque Michelle region - great sights if it were day!
The routes are insane and I'd love to participate - but I had enough
trouble keeping up when I was only doing 120MPH on the Auto-Bahn!!
Obviously all cars are outfitted with multiple driving lights that
almost prevent one from watching the arrivals at the checkpoint.

Well I've got to go.....I know it wasn't very significant - but I
really enjoyed the rally as well as Belgium.

James LeLeux - 1967 Alpine.
