Thanks to all who replied. I had a fresh can of WD40, which I emptied
into the 4 cylinders. Then I put about a half cup of 10W30 into each
cylinder, screwed in the sparking plugs, and left it for a while. I've
some Marvel Mystery Oil on order; I will inject some of that in a month or
so. I figure I will probably end up bashing the pistons out, but it
seemed worth soaking anyway. Who knows, maybe it is not monumentally
stuck.
Something sloshes in the gas tanks, even after 16 years. It doesn't smell
much like gas, though. I will drain them once I talk to the hazardous
waste people to see what I can do with it once it's out. How does one
drain the tanks on a Series V, anyway? Are there plugs, or do you have to
remove the crossover pipe?
FWIW, the engine is the original, the car is an early Series V (number
284). 38K miles are showing; it might be original or 138K. The thought
it might be original arises because the rubber floor mats are present and
the brake and clutch pads are relatively unworn. The car has been
resprayed once, from the original black to an awful salmon color.
I have Mouse Milk on order; I will squirt some around on fasteners when it
arrives.
Thanks again for the advice.
