Rob,

I have had great success with putting a german Ford 2.8L V-6 into the
later Alpines. This motor and trans comes out of a 1970's Capri and
works great. If it fit into the tight confines of the later Alpines,
it might fit into the earlier ones too. I am sending along another
note that I wrote on the subject some time ago.
