15" wire wheels on an Alpine! Now that would have been something.
However, I feel that wheels that size should be reserved for TC's and SS
100's and the like.
Thank you kindly for the info. By the way, you should know that no matter
what information you disclose, I will still buy the book. It really only
serves as a teaser.
Interesting that you mention about the Series III change in the rake of
the windshield. I once thought that there was a change, but later
convinced myself that it was a optical illusion resulting from the added
windwings (or whatever they are called, being fixed). Now you suggest
that I was right all along!
It is too bad about the rake thing. The car would have been totally
different than anything out there -- the angled fins would have even made
sense -- and the car would never have been compared to a Thunderbird
(another thorn in Howe's side I'm sure). But, timing is everything, and
it was the start of the 60's.
Oh, one other question. How about the peaked vs. non-peaked headlight
rings? I have the non-peaked, and prefer them (convenient that way,
huh?). But, I do not know which years had which rings, or which were
part of the original design and why the change. It looks like the model
has non-peaked, but the prototype had peaked, and the non-peaked did not
come around until later Series V's like mine. (Is there a picture of the
front of the model for the next book?)
Thank's again. Keep up the great work.
Jay.
