I'm glad this subject came up - although I can't shed much light on the
comparison at hand. I do have three jacks, all originally black, that I
presumed were Alpine equipment. One anomally - the extension to the frame
horn is located about 3/4 inch differently on one of them. It does seem to
me, however, that on my original series 1, the jack was painted gray. I
haven't seen that car in over 30 years. While I do have an extremely good
memory, it also is very short - along with other things.
But - on the subject - can you Talbot guys give me a clue? Trying to use a
series Alpine jack on El Supremo, it does fit nicely into the frame horn.
BUT - it splays outward at about 15 degrees, barely lifts the front tire off
the ground, and does not allow the backs to clear. Guess I could carry a
cinder block to give extra lift. Fitted to the series 2, the jack is near
vertical at the back and splays inward at about 10 degrees on the front.
Ramon - do you have one? It's worth a pitcher of margaritas on Sunday to
have a definitive answer.
