Here's my USD 0.02
Is it worth it - I would guess it should be pretty good for that price.
Im speaking from the US, but prices are pretty universal. No filler,
straight, good oil pressure etc. My 1965 Alpine was very rusty, as im
sure most in the UK will be. I cured my rust by shipping my car to the
US (California) when I came over here. Im sure that some welding must
have taken place, try to be sure thay did a good job.

Reliable? Probably not as much as a Bug - but they can be very reliable
if in good condition. Again, oil pressure is important on these engines
- the numbers differ depending on who you talk to but at least 20 lbs
idle (800rpm), 45 running at 2500 rpm when HOT (any comments from
others welcome). There are jokes about Lucas electrics over here, but
in the 11 yrs Ive had my Alpine, Ive had no more problems than any
other car.

Practical classic?? What does that mean. I drive mine every day, thay
will probably never make you rich, but you will probably never lose
money if you keep it in the condition that you found it.

BTY mine is also a GT, but here in California I never use the top.

Good luck
John
