Bert,

I seem to recall that my cable did rub against the springs when it was
not engaged, but that there was some sort of rubber/plastic shield on
there at the point of contact preventing noise and wear. I'll check
later. I assume it was a factory piece.

This weekend I worked on the Alpines rear brakes, I noticed that the
handbrake cable was badly worn near the area were it is close to the
springs inner edge. (right rear wheel)
The space between the cable and spring is not much maybe half an inch ?
is that normal or are my springs tired ?
I presume that it will wear again when I replace the cable.

Does anyone have the Timken or SKF bearing numbers of the rear wheels and front wheels, as I hear a noise coming from the rear wheel bearing.

Help Help I'm still looking for the hardtop toggle clamp (near-side/left) please look in your old parts boxes for me, even if you got one without the base plate it's fine ! Any suggestions about a replacement ?

A tech tip: I used a gear puller to get the wheel drum off as it seems very brittle at least too brittle to use a hammer on it like I normally can do with the steel drum of the Imp. I already cracked the side of it !

Another one: I used a contra nipple and put a small piece of rubber in it (used a inner t yre and the right hollow pipe and put that on the end of the brake pipe nipple when I was servicing the rear brake cilinde r. That worked fine, as otherwise it keeps leaking even when you put a plastic bag underneath the brake reservoir cap. save you bleeding the bleeding servo unit !

Regards, Bert
