In Australia we have a very popular form of vehicle called the Ute, short
for Utility. They are made on the same wheelbase as the big sedans and a
box in the back but the back is part of the same body work as the rest of
the car. You have the front seat in the cabin. Like a scaled down version
of your F100's. But they aren't really the same as what you would call a
pick up, which we would call a single cab with a tray I think.

Anyway I have thought for a long time that your basket case scrap Alpine
would make a very good start for creating an open top Ute. The only problem
is that in Australia your basket case Alpine is still worth about the
equivalent $2000 US. And you coul get a pretty decent old Ute for that price.

I hope I haven't alienated myself too much here.
