Jay,
Called Kirk Racing Products (205) 823-6025 today. Their $174 headers are
mild steel, with a 1.5" dia, 4 to 2 to 1 style (double-Y). They said they
could do them in stainless steel for $400. On the mild steel ones they
quoted another $125 for ceramic coating the inside and outside, and another
$50 to increase the dia. to 1-5/8". I guess the ceramic coating will make
the mild steel rustproof, but it is very scratchable.
I also called Classic Sunbeam in Ossing NY (800) 24-SUNBEAM. I had asked for
a catalog a few months ago but had not received it. I purchased some parts
from them in about 1991 and was happy with what they sent me. I don't really
know what their overall reputation is lately. I know that I have had a
difficult time reaching them at certain periods over the past couple of
years. Anyway, they have stainless headers that are "guaranteed to fit " the
Series V for $225. He did not know the type of stainless used, or the
diameter of pipe, but said he would get back to me in the next couple of
days. We'll see. Oh yeah, he did say that these were of the double-Y
design, and actually end in two pipes so that you can use the stock exhaust
system.
Has anybody out there had experience with these headers or Classic Sunbeam
lately? I know that they used to carry some stuff that Rick at Sunbeam
Specialties didn't have as of a couple of years ago, but I know nothing of
the company in the past 5 years or so.
Now regarding the intake manifolds. I talked to Gary today at TWM Induction
(805) 967-9478. He said that someone else had called him about the manifolds
today, however I do not recognize the name on the list of 5 that you sent
yesterday. I tried to nail him down as to the "discount" he was planning to
give us, however he wasn't sure yet. Anyways, he wants the five of us to get
our names, addresses, phone numbers and deposit checks ($100 ea.) together
and send them as one unit. Sounds like a pain to me, so if everyone will
just call or write him in the next couple of days, and send him their
deposit, I think we'll be o.k..
His address is:
TWM Induction
325 D Rutherford St.
Goleta, CA 93117
make the checks out to "TWM Induction"
He quoted a turnaround time of 90 days and said that he would help figure out
a cable style throttle assembly for the setup. Do any of the other 4 people
that are buying these things live on the Central Coast?

I am trying to get a copy of the new edition of the Alpine Guide published by
SOAC. I sent a request for info to SOAC a couple of months back, however I
have received nothing.
If anyone out there has a copy which they are willing to make a copy of, I
would be more than happy to pay the copy and shipping charges.
