I visited a friend last weekend who has his car on a rotiserie. He is
slipping a small block Chevy 327 into a 240Z. He is replacing nearly all
the frame rails and floor with heavier guage steel to handle the torque. To
do this, he has removed everything from the car....the frame and most of the
body shell is all that is left. No engine, doors, interior, seats,
suspension, hood, rear fenders (rust removed much of them), etc. What is
left weighs about 4-5 hundred pounds. He built dual A-Frame supports from
2X4's and engine stands which bolt to the front and rear of the car. He
estimated the center of gravity and lined up the pivot points there.
Rotating the car is a one man operation. Due to the reduced weight of the
car, he is not too worried about frame flex while on the
"spit".............If the interest is there, I'll get either more details
from him or he OK's it................give his e-mail address to any
interested parties.
