Oil FIlter/Manifold 'By Pass' valve to Oil Cooler on V

I have a steady dripping from the left front side of my oil cooler on
     my Series V, Alpine .

A couple of questions come to mind, and I would like to pick the
     internet brains:

     1. Is there a temperature sensor/thermostat on the Oil Filter
Manifold? And does the manifold have a specific inlet and outlet port
on this manifold (does it matter which way the oil cooler is
     connected)?

     2. Is the oil filter manifold, which is mounted on the engine,
     standard issue?

     3. I have one of the 'round' oil coolers, should I consider replacing
it with a new unit. I have a feeling that it might be partial plugged
up. The high pressure on the inlet side is then causing oil to seep
     out the gaskets.

I just finished rebuilding my engine Sep/Oct last year and the new
engine only has about 25 miles on it. So if it is going to be a
problem, I would rather replace it now ...

     Thanks in advance -
