Scott,
Hi, this is Jim D'Amelio I'am using my wifes address because I'am
having trouble sending mail thought AOL.
There is no difference in the latching mechanisms between the Series 3
and the MK IA hardtop.
There are only two differences that I know of.
1) The little metal tabs located on the rail under the rear window on
hardtops for cars with the vinyl softtop cover, these are used for the
straps that hold up the cover.
2) The chrome button that holds the quarter window plexiglass to the
hinge was made bigger in diameter ( with no change in part # ) sometime
during production to prevent it cracking the plexiglass and pulling
out.
Hope this helps.
