Alpine electrics

Hi.

The Alpine is currently suffering from an electrical problem and as I try to avoid anything electrical due to being totally clueless I'm hoping for a few pointers from the list. The story goes: bought a new battery (of the same type as already fitted to the car) Sunday morning and the car started fine and everything looked OK. Sunday afternoon and the entire car's electrics (apart from ignition/starter) had packed in. I checked the fuses and found that one had blown. Now, I'm under the impression that one fuse is for the ignition and one is for all the other electrics, so if the car was still starting and running then the fuse that had blown must be the "other" electrics. I changed the fuse but still nothing works - the new fuse has not blown. Anyone any ideas on what to look at next? By way of diagnosis tools I have a 12V bulb and two bits of wire. I haven't put them to use as yet but am hoping to take a look at the car tonight. Luckily (?) this happened 2 days *after* the MOT, not before - but did happen on one of the sunniest days we've had :(

Cheers & thanks for any pointers, Dave W.
