Sway Bars

To alpine clan,

I dont mean to sound like a broken record, but there must be someone out there who knows the answer to this.

Let me start at the begining. I wish to install a beefier sway bar on my series 2 alpine to control my vehicles tendancy to lift the inside rear wheel on a tight turn "I have really sticky tires". The car feels like it has too

big of a rear sway bar even though it has none. The stock 5/8 sway bar is in good shape and I replaced the rubber bushings with hand made nylon. Nylon bushings help a little, but there is a need for more control of front sway.

I purchased a used tiger 3/4 sway bar some time ago and found the angles of the ends are different than that of mine and it would require a lot of force to bend the bar so that it could mount. This leads me to believe that at least tiger bars are different to alpines.

Victoria British sells alpine and tiger sway bars. The alpine has one part number for all alpine applications and the tiger has another part number. This would lead me to believe that alpine bars are different to tiger bars. If so this means that the lower control arms are mounted at different angles relative to the crossmember.

Addco sells sway bars to Victoria, and has two parts as well.

Rick at sunbeam specialties sells only 7/8 and 1 inch bars for late model cars only. He says that series 4 and 5 alpines and tigers use the same bars, which he sells. He does not sell an early alpine sway bar. Also his manufaturer is NOT addco.

Does anyone know the true situation here. I would like to know if a late alpine bar is or is not the same as a tiger and if not will it fit an early alpine?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
