To complete the story on the hardtop I asked about a couple of
weeks ago --- I finally got a chance to look at it.
Thanks to the list, I knew it was correct as soon as I
saw the opening vent windows. It turns out the guy just
had it sitting around in his shed for years. After trying it on
every small convertible he could find, he still had no idea
what it was. He finally took it to Motorhead, a local Brit car
garage, to see if they could identify it. They don't work on many
Sunbeams, but they recognized it from the rear mounting clips
and called me. The top is entirely complete except
for one missing rear window trim clip. It has virtually no rust and
only a few dings in a really nice black paint job. The headliner
looks original with one minor rip. Most of the rubber trim needs
replacing, but I assume that's available. The price was $125. Not bad.
