They are interchangeable except for the very top piece that goes on the top
of the shaft, this is the piece with the gear on it. For the series II this
is an extra 3/8 of an inch long. This is because of the length of the
housing for the cable drive tacho set up. This top piece can be
interchanged from oil pump to oil pump if the pump is out of the car. So
take the longer piece off your series II pump and put it on the series V
pump and you have a (less worn?) working oil pump and distributor drive set up.
