I'm in the process of building my FIRST bulletproof Alpine motor, and I'd
like
to know about your first one if the bottom end is weak.
I just got my first ever look at the insides of a 1725 motor last week, and
I thought
it looked pretty stout, at least compared to the Series I pieces I had right
there to
compare with.
And, as my contribution to the survey, this 1725 has a munched rod bearing
and two shot main bearings. And the cam and lifters are trash. Looks to
have been overhauled recently, but the prior owner said he had loaned the
car to
his nephew and the lad had driven it to a low oil condition, whereupon it
started
"making this noise . . . "

Where'd you get the "big cam" and . . . "HOW BIG IS IT?"
7000 rpm is cool! That's where we used to rev-limit the autocross
Tiger 'till the pistons all collapsed last year!
