If you are having the rotors resurfaced it's a good time to replace the pads
even if the old ones still have some life left. Pads are not too expensive
and you end up with virtually new brakes, with no additional labour

Never had the experience with an Alpine but - I recently bought a Ford
minivan which I discovered would put on a mild shimmy through the steering
wheel when coming to an easy stop as you describe. The dealer/salesmen said
it was probably the rotors being worn unevenly and a turning of same would
fix the problem. He was right - but as I had already taken delivery of the
vehicle I had to split the cost of the work 50/50 (no warranty on 10 yr old
vehicles) - it cost me $80 but it did fix the problem. Could be you have
the same problem? He said it's a common problem with disc brakes.
