Well after removing my clutch pedal assembly (I might add it was alot of
fun, hehe) I found the clevis pin to be grooved HEAVILY, and the black
bracket that holds it on the firewall was also badly oblonged? So
needless to say I will need to replace these items ASAP, as it is now
"off the road". I also removed the water outlet tank, and just about
all the bolts in it (ie. pressure relief valve, neck for cap bolts)
broke off in it, so with that needing to see my machinist friend (a
Sunbeam owners best friend!) it has sparked me to do some more
mechanical maintenence. So if anyone has a spare (cherry condition)
clutch pedal bracket and clevis laying around their garage please let me
know.
Before I go I have a good question to ask, has anyone ever seen a series
II with the turn signal switch on the right side of the column? Every
photo I have seen, in manuals and just illistrations show it on the left
side. But mine has the dowel, and the alignment hole in the column so it
can only be mounted on the right side (correctly), and it doesn't appear
that you can flip the column.. When I got the car the cover assy. was
wire tied, and taped to the column, and the switch was epoxied onto the
column. Just a strange one to throw at you.
Thanks!
Derek Jewett
