Don: I had the same problem and used a Brand X valve from a parts store -
but it did not line up very well with the cable pull from the dash. Unlike
our friend Daniel below I used a 'low-tech' solution - disconnected the
cable pull and operated with two settings - ON in winter and OFF in summer!
Given the inherent inefficiency of British car heaters and the general
draftiness of my car I found it hard to tell the difference.
