OK, I'll join the list - my first new car was '67 Alpine and after
getting married and needing a "family" car I purchased a '76 burgundy
Pacer. I kept it only one year because of the air conditioning (I
lived in Raleigh at the time) and tire wear problems. I'm satisfied
with the attention my '67 Alpine generates now so I don't think I will
look for a Pacer to restore...

Paul,
This is sad, did everyone who owns Alpines & Tigers own a Pacer............ My
Alpine was bought new in 1967 for $2,460 at the time I traded in a 64 Dodge
Dart that they gave me $600 for. I was married in 1972 and since I didn't
think the Alpine was a family car we purchased a 1972 VEGA !!!!! Luckily, I
didn't trade the Alpine, I kept it and my wife drove the Vega, needless to
say, the Vega spent most of its time at the dealer and the Alpine we still
have.
After Chevy took the Vega back with 24k on the speedo and two engines we
bought a burgandy PACER. No exactly the type of car you took to the drive-in
movies in, so much glass that the AC was always on high. Gave it up after the
rack & pinion went.
Just thought you should know, that others have followed in your footsteps.
