Hi Joyce!

The identification number is also stamped on the frame rail, left side in
front of the front wheel, near the steering box on a LHD car. The engine
number (which matched the chassis number when new) is on the left front upper
edge of the engine block.

The numbers should start with an A301___________LRX for an Alpine.

On the VIN plate, the numbers following the LRX is the body number.
Originally, there was also a BLSP (British Light Steel Pressing) body number
plate. There is also an embossed brass plate with an EF number - I have not
yet found out what it means. I speculate that is is "engine foundry", but
that is an entirely uneducated guess.

By the way, I want a ride in your Hudson Hornet someday.

"Ole"
