Eric,
It sounds to me like the switch itself is not working for one side. The
lever moves a small metal strip over three metal "bumps". The bar always
touches the center one, and when the lever is moved it connects the bar
to the middle one and the one in the direction you move it, thus making a
connection for that side of the turn signal. You probably just need to
clean off the strip and the bumps - corrosion and soot can build up there.
