The NTW guys probably read the Rootes workshop manual where it says you must
make up a platform supported by the front jack points and load 300 lbs of
bricks on it before aligning the car. "Nah....we'll pass."
I've got one of those Sears lifetime alignment deals for the Alpine. So for,
they've always been able to get it right. They have noted that my shock
towers are apparently sagging inward, so that camber adjustment is now maxed
out. They have also mentioned that the steering box has play in it (despite
my having rebuilt it a few years ago) so that there is a certain degree of
inherent error. They typically set it up, then shake the suspension a few
times, let it settle, and use the average readouts to find out if its dialed
in. Never a problem.
If Sears can do it (without 300 lbs of bricks), why can't everyone?
