Front end ...
Sounds like metal rubbing up against the fan blade and no there isn't.
Quite loud and varying in degree. Difficult to tell the exact location.
1. Water Pump ?
a. does not leak.
b. the temp in the car is exact and no water loss anywhere.
2. Alternator ?
a. has been weak since I owned it.
b. If this is it, is there a very powerful replacement?
I would like halogens, fogs and a large amp.
your thoughts before I tackle it....

***** NOTES from Jay Laifman (JLAIFMAN (at) PNM) at 8/27/96 4:10p
I think that the alternator is a good guess. I had one of the three(?)
bolts holding the alternator together spontaneously break. This caused
the two halves to twist and the pulley fan to rub against the front of
the alternator. A new bolt took care of the broken bolt, but I think the
bearing was shot because of the misadventure. I have long since replaced
it with a Hitachi 55 amp - more than enough to run all the accessories you
want. I just don't know if the wires can handle the extra power being
pulled through them. I am not running anything extra.
