You might want to have a good look at the braking system as a whole. 
Are the front pads free, If not used much rust can form in the pad 
backing plates and cause them to get tight. Are all the pads wotking - 
is any one dramatically more worn than the others. 
The Alpine with servo working will lock the wheels yes. In fact the 
brakes are very good.
