Is the car actually boiling over, or are you going by the gauge alone?
It's the gauge, then when it says you are over heating, carefully open
the radiator cap, and check the water tep with a kitchen thermometer.
If the water temp is correct, test or change the temp sending unit on
the engine. If it's actually boiling over, make sure you are running a
50/50 mix of Antifreeze and water. Verify that the thermostat is not in
backwards (This will cause over heating). You said the head had been
redone. Was the head cold tanked? It should have been. Did you
inspect the water jackets in the block while the head was off? Are any
of the radiator hoses kinked while running?
