Larry - you are correct in identifying that the car is a Series 3 Alpine. If
you have the original engine in the car the numbers will match with those on the
firewall.
SAL means "Sunbeam Assembly Line" and the number after it so far means nothing.
I have found no correlation with that number and any production dates,
sequences, etc.
SB means "sealed beam" and so far has only been found on North American spec.
cars where sealed beam headlights were mandatory.
LRX stands for Left-hand drive Roadster with non-standard specficiations (X)
meaning it was not built for the Home market (U.K.)
I am maintaining a registry for Series 3 Alpines and will place this car in the
databank. Please let me know if the engine number matches.
