From the posts I remember reading on the net a few months back, it seems like
there were quite a few "SB" Alpines out there - far too many to have all been
intended for racing, considering Rootes limited budget.

Per another post: SB = sealed beam? Hmmm. Seems like too much trouble and
expense to stamp the ID plate just to designate a non-standard headlight
destined for a particular export market. A letter(s) for a special
drivetrain component I can understand (eg. OD or low compression engine),
but headlights? In contrast to the argument for "special bodied" = SB;
you'd think that EVERY Alpine exported to the U.S. would have had an "SB"
stamp if "sealed beam" was the designation.

There's too many, yet there's too few.
