I had a weird experience this weekend.
Our local British car club was invited to display our cars at
an air show. There were a dozen cars, including Jaguars, MGs,
Austin-Healeys, and Triumphs, all neatly lined up.
An MG owner was talking about Lucas headlights for the
concours MGB he was restoring. He thought they were hard
to find and we walked down the row of cars looking for
"Lucas" on the lenses of each headlight.
Only one car had a set of Lucas headlights: my Hillman Imp.
I would guess they are the original set. Now he wants to
buy them. I think it's rather odd that he can't buy a new set.
I'd buy halogens if it was me (I'm not into concours).
Are Lucas sealed beams available for a reasonable price?
Would you buy a set of 30 year old lights for a concours car?
Would a concours judge care anyway?
