Sunbeamers,
Please shine your light on this one:
I experience a heavy flat spot when driving away and when
accelarating.
My Alpine is a series IV 1592cc with twin choke Solex.
The accelarator pump membrane is renewed I've put a metal roller
bearing of a bike as a non return valve in there as the origional
was missing.
Also the linkage to the pump has been exchanged and works, although
there is some play in the linkage from the accelarator valve spindle
to the round lever arm which pushes the membrane.
Ther are no fuel leakages.
The timing is set with a stroboscopic lamp.
The vacuum advance membrane is OK and vacuum advance is smooth and regular.
The plugs are champion n7yc (colder plugs then n9yc as n5yc the
origionals are unobtainable) and are clean and their gaps ok.
When I accelarate the engine (either quick or slow) on standstill
no flat spot is noticed.
