Someone asked about the magazine that the SAOC puts out. It is called
the "Alpine Horn" and it comes out 6 times a year (sort of, there has been
some publication delays lately) and they are up to issue 107 or so. The
magazine is usually about 40 pages long with your expected stuff: letters
from owners, spotlights on owners and cars, reports from events, techical
articles, really neat pictures, and classifieds. The events section and
classifieds certainly make it hard for us State-side folks, especially all
those Holbay Alpines. Next to the professional-type magazine I get from
my "other car" club, this one is my favorite ("sorry about that" to my two
other Sunbeam clubs).
Someone also asked about the amount Ruesch charges for a check in British
pounds. I just called them. They charged $3.00, have offices in Los
Angeles, DC, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, and Boston, and will send you a
check over the mail for no additional charge (the exchange rate is set
over the phone when you call and request the check and it is not sent
until they get your check). Their Los Angeles phone number is (310)
277-7800.
