I recently asked about the problems that washing your engine with 'Gunk'
can cause.
Water in the distributor
Gunk in the cracks causing conductive routes
Gunk in disolving some of the carbon fiber in the cheap high tension wires
Water in the Carberator blocking tiny holes.
My problem seemed like anything that could cause misfiring, severe lack of power
but somewhat intermitent. Could be any of the above.
The Answer:
I looked into the carb possiblity, twin stromberg's, by removing the float
bowls.
To catch the gas I put a rag below before I started.
The column that sucks up the gas has holes so big that one could pass the
Queen Mary through them.
After careful inspection I decide I still had no idea.
When I went to replace the bowls the needle on the left carb was lying on
the rag below.
I replaced the needle and tightened the small screw in the side of the
'floating cylindrical unit'
that normally holds it.
Now the car runs fine. SO WHAT IS THE CONNECTION?
Warning Lable
......
If the engine is washed the needles in your carbs will fall out.
Keep this in mind.... dgb
