Just a thought, but can the loose fitting rod bolts be knurled so that you
get a good press fit?

I'm sure they could be knurled so that you'd get a press fit, but a "good"
press fit is another question.

I think they get loose because:

1. They were never a real tight fit, even when they were new.

2.. They stretch.

I'd get a set of new stock/original bolts from Curt or Rick before I'd
fool around with used bolts. And that's probably what I'll do if the
ARP project flounders.

I would think that an 11/32-inch bolt is plenty sturdy enough for the
Alpine. The rod bolts in the Tigers are only 5/16-inch, and I rev limited
the autocross car at seven grand for five or six years before the pistons
called it quits.
