I'm pretty sure that towards the late part of the 60s, nearely all english
car manufacturers that were previously using add on overdrives, went from
the Laycock D type OD to the J type OD. Its my understanding than the J
type was a tad more durable, but unfortunatly quite incompatiple in nearly
all respects to the D type.

Late model MGs use this, as well as other BMC cars.

The documentation that I have for the Rapier GLS, and the hipo Arrows, show
these to use the J type as well. This would have been around the 68,69 time
frame.
Pehaps OD Alpine GTs have these as well?

These OD transmisions are differentiated by the fact that the tail shafts
are rather long with respect to the earlier transmisions.
