Well, everyone has been bashing the $15,000 asking price for what sounds like
a very good low mileage series 2 Alpine.
I just pulled out my copy of Rick Cole Auctions Quarterly magazine for Summer
1991, in which he projects the best values in collectible cars, from current
prices to five years down the road.
From the 1991 "Gold List":
1959-1967 Sunbeam Alpine. $4,000-6,000. Five years: $15,000-18,000.
Mind you, these are for "front-line" cars, and, it seems to me that a couple
years ago he was quoted as saying that the recession had pushed his
projections back a couple years.
So, get ready for it - $15,000 Alpines are not unrealistic. Take care of the
ones you have, don't screw 'em up - but most of all, enjoy them.
