The problem described below is not weather-dependent. If your car starts
fine in warm weather, then what I have written does not apply.
Depending on how long your car sits between starts, it's possible that
the fuel bowls in the carbs are drying out. If you have the stock
mechanical fuel pump, it's going to take several cranks of the engine
for the pump to fill the carbs. An electric fuel pump can fix it.
Also, if your carb's bowls are drying out in just a few hours, like
between the time you park at the office in the morning and try to start
it in the evening to go home, then you have some problems with leaky
gaskets in your carbs and a carb rebuild is in order.
I had all these problems with my Alpine before it came off the road, and
I will be installing an electric pump when I get it running again. Of
course a carb rebuild will also be done.
