fire in the car

I carry a fire extinguisher in all my cars. In the Alpine III it
is in the boot under the strap originally meant for the tool roll.
In my other cars it is in the box in which it came, with a strip of velcro
duct-taped to the box and stuck to the fabric of the side wall of the
boot.

The extinguisher saved a car of mine once when a hole in a piston resulted
in oil being pumped out of the dipstick tube all over the engine, where it
caught fire. The extinguisher put out the fire before any real damage
was done.

The car that caught fire was not a Sunbeam.

An adequate fire extinguisher is a lot cheaper than the repairs needed
after a fire. Strongly recommended.
