Most of the fuel I've seen in the U.S. is unleaded - I rarely see leaded
fuel anymore. And the highest octane I normally see is 92. The last
Alpine 1725s were built when it was fairly easy to get leaded gasoline with
100+ octane.
I found an old gas station way out in Washington State once, about twenty
years ago that still sold 99 octane - I filled up the tank and reset the
timing, and my Alpine ran better than it ever has!
I haven't been using lead additives, but I know people who do, and when I
have a choice between low octane leaded fuel and higher octane unleaded, I
go with the octane. What does everyone out there think about the various
lead additives?
