Well, here is my story.
I have owned my Series II since 1980. I bought it for $75.00 and towed it home for another $85.00! Now that
was a few thousand dollars ago! The restoration finally got underway after a close friend of mine died very
suddenly. He had all the toys and got to enjoy them before he died and it woke me up to do the same. So, in
1990 the car went in the bodyshop for major surgery and has been much enjoyed ever since.
I recently decided to take on another LBC - I purchased a 69 MGB GT in October 95 and use it as my
daily driver. Both cars run very well and I have had no major Lucas woes to speak of.
My love of British cars stems from being an ex.Brit. My wife and I were married in 1970 and emigrated
to Canada in 1971. Prior to that, my first car was an Anglia Super and I used to go out on trips with my folks
in a proper Sunbeam Talbot. I also drove a BSA Bantam just like the one on the TV program "Heartbeat". I
managed to break some bones on an Aerial 250cc twin two stroke. All my friends at that time drove sports cars
and I spent a fair amount of time helping keep them on the road.
When we came to Canada we lived in Toronto and bought an automatic stick shift Volkswagon!! Somehow,
Ontario did not seem like a place to have an British sports car. We moved to Vancouver Island in 1975 and
Gabriola Island in 1995.
I was origonally trained as a fitter/machinist and ended up working as an electronic design draftsman
for most of the major computer manufacturers in the UK. In Toronto I worked for Phillips Telecomms.
Moving to B.C. required a change of career and I worked in the civil engineering side of things with a
consultant then moved into engineering in local government. I deal mostly with administration and budgets
these days but keep my hi-tech juices flowing with computer mapping and G.I.S. responsibilities.
I'm 53 and my wife is 49 and very supportive of my old car hobby - she says it keeps me out of the
bar! We are both avid skiers, no children but 4 great nieces and nephews who live close by. Their wish list
when they come to stay is - to ride in Uncle Tonys Alpine!

So that's my story - Happy New Year,

Tony Leeming
