This has become an age-old debate Karl, but I'll add my two cents. There is
plenty of evidence that switching to a high-quality, high-octane UN-leaded fuel
will not cause any harm to an engine previously run on leaded only, PROVIDED
THAT your car is not run on excessively high rpms or under severe load (such as
towing).

My personal evidence of this is that my Series 3 Alpine and my father's 1959
Cadillac and 1959 Oldsmobile all have run on 92 octane unleaded fuel for 10 +
years with no damage to valve seats. The Alpine is a four cylinder and the
Caddy / Olds both have huge V8 engines, so "my" theory should work on Tigers as
well..

Conclusion? My advice would be to switch to a high octane unleaded, drive
smartly, and enjoy your car! Now I'm sure you'll hear from plenty of others
that will prove me wrong!
