Karl,

        Here in Nova Scotia many of us use a lead substitute that comes
in a 250ml bottle and I add it to a 40 litre tank. There are many theories
on the benefits of its use. I suppose it you are doing high speed driving
on a regular basis it should be used to reduce the possibility of burning
valve seats. If you have Sunbeams like mine where the engines are
relatively slower turning, the benefits are marginal and perhaps the use
of an additive is unnecessary. The alternative is to install hardened
valve seats the next time your head is off.
