Next time this happens get a volt meter and trace the circuit. Is there
enough voltage at the battery terminal when this happens? Is there any
voltage at either side of the the ignition switch or at the coil? A volt
meter should make it easy to locate a faulty connection, fuse, circuit
breaker or switch all which may act as you described when stressed.
Batteries may fail internally and give symptoms like these as well.
