FWIW:
I don't know where the Series I seats come from. But, the
Series II seats were specifically designed for the Alpine,
but were subject to much criticism. The Series III - V seats
were designed by Microcell Ltd., the manufacturers of the "world
famous Microcell aircraft seat" - and a group who knew a
great deal about designing seats for long distance comfort.
Compared to TR, MG, etc., these new seats were leaps and bounds
ahead of their time - and probably why the car was thought of
as plush!
