Number Five is Alive

You guys have been with me for the purchase and repair of my Series 5
since December. It works now! I drove it around a few miles when the
weather was nice (Atlanta). Even my wife thought it was great (whew!).
We drove around listening to 1960's british rock. FYI, Here was the
  main bugaboo:

Test drove it and it idled fine but didn't accelerate well/stalled -
Ultimate cause was sticky air valve on strombergs and most importantly,
the link between the 2 carbs was slipping. When I gave it gas, only one
carb opened, the other stayed at idle. In my quest to figure this out I
replaced the sparkplug wires, points, condensor, leaky fuel line, rebuilt
the carbs, broke and replaced the solenoid. All but the solenoid change
  was probably needed anyway.

  Thanks for the help,
  Chris Mottram
