When I put the windshield back into my Tiger, there were two
rubber "wedges" that went under the frame at either side (where
the frame is closet to the door pillars). I was told that these
are often "lost", and reassembly without them contributes to the
problem. Additionally, if you have replaced the crash pad with
one of the repro units it can help if you relieve the foam padding
from under the center bolt. Lastly, I was also told to not crank
the frame bolts at the edges down to the max, but rather just
enough to align the frame to the pillar posts.
I don't know if all that is applicable to an early car, but it
may help you some...
P.S. Norm Miller of Tiger fame showed me some shims he made out
of hard plastic to replace the rubber ones. I think Jay Laifman
or someone else on the list had a more "trick" method as well?
